A NEW CHAPTER

It is a new ambition, a freedom that leads us today to write a new chapter in our history by creating Collection. The times, climate change, the importance of sustainable viticulture that respects the living to express all the qualities of the terroir, are all obvious questions that must be answered.

Constraint and adversity often give rise to the most beautiful works. Inspired by a new lease of life, we have chosen to renew our blends, to reshape our know-how, to rethink our actions to anchor ourselves in this new tempo of Nature. The creation of Collection was thus imposed.

It is an evolution of structure, form, style. The dawn of a new chapter for our House that we continue to write with passion.

A WINEGROWER ANCHORAGE FROM THE "HEART OF THE TERROIR"

Collection is based on a selection of plots chosen in the heart of the Champagne terroir, adapted to its identity, with priority given to sustainable winegrowing practices.

We have thus rigorously redefined all the Collection plots, those of our Louis Roederer estates and those resulting from our historical partnerships, to keep only those anchored in this "Heart of Terroir": localities, exposures, lands with strong, salient, precise identities, most often chalk soils, the most capable of registering over the long term to give us, vintage after vintage, the best of their fruits.

THE ART OF BLENDING

Thus freed from any imposed figure, in the exclusive search for the best wine each year, we are more than ever placing the art of blending at the heart of our approach; better, it is becoming the key element because our desire is to take the quality of our multi-vintage wines even further.

However, today we are taking this wine to a new level and, more than an evolution of style, it is a change of matrix that is taking place; a velvet revolution that gives birth to this multi-vintage Collection cuvée, like an essential milestone in our quest for progress and the absolute.

PERPETUAL RESERVE & RESERVE WINES UNDER WOOD

To take freshness even further, and balance the beautiful maturity of harvests, we have set up a "Perpetual Reserve".

Started with the 2012 vintage, enriched each year with the latest harvest and stored in large-capacity stainless steel vats, this Réserve Perpétuelle brings new sensations, both tactile and gustatory: the wine thus finds more breadth, depth, substance and relief; its more enveloping, more fleshy texture, enhances its complexity.

In parallel with this Réserve Perpétuelle, we have largely accentuated the proportion of reserve wines in wood. These reserve wines judiciously balance the freshness of the Réserve Perpétuelle and give intensity to the blend.

Collection thus gains in modernity, in complexity, adorning itself with all the virtues of a very great champagne.

MAKE WAY FOR FREEDOM

Created from the Réserve Perpétuelle and reserve wines aged in wood, supplemented with the best juices from the most recent harvest, the Collection cuvée is rooted in our Champagne roots and the foundations of our Reims House. Freedom thus always guides the blend, according to what Nature gives us.

Each Collection blend thus has its own identity that will reveal itself even more fully over time. The Collection 242 cuvée represents the 242nd blend of the House since its creation.
