Presentation of the wine
The 15 hectares of vines that give birth to this Sauternes are found in the south-west of the appellation, not far from Langon, in a terroir that mixes gravel and clays. You will find a majority of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes are collected in several passages, once the botrytis cinerea has concentrated sugar and aromas - it is noble rot. The result is vinification in new oak barrels, which will be punctuated by 3 years of aging.
Let's mention the name of the master of the place to illustrate the excellence of this wine: Alexandre de Lur-Saluces, former co-owner and winemaker of Yquem who retired to the castle of Fargues, stronghold of his family, to value the production.
He makes distinguished Sauternes, classic and discreet, with sumptuous balances and long mouths. We will remember for example the 1985,1990. 1997, the 2007 and of course, the 2009, close to perfection.
