Château Dassault 1978 - (75cl) - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Château Dassault 1978 - (75cl) - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Created in 1862 by Victor Beylot, the former completely derelict Château Couperie was bought in 1955 by Marcel Dassault who completely renovated it, which allowed him to reach the rank of Grand Cru Classé of St. Emilion in 1969. In 1973, the family hired a young oenologist to further improve the quality of production: Michel Rolland.
The property is now managed by the grandson of the aircraft manufacturer, Laurent Dassault, who follows the wines closely. Since 1995, Laurence Brun-Vergriette has taken over all the technique taking over from her father, André Vergriette, the former manager. Ultra-competent and very determined, she carried out a real work of substance in the vineyard and the cellars, with the aim of improving the quality of the wines permanently.
Located on the north glacier of Saint-Emilion, the 28-hectare vineyard stretches on limestone and sandy soils. Its grape variety consists of 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The producer talks about it
Château Couperie was created in the 19th century by the Beylot family. Purchased in 1955 by the Dassault family, it changes its identity and becomes Château Dassault. She entered the family of Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion in 1969. Laurent Dassault is today the President of this Wine Company. Château Dassault has been recommended in oenology since 1973 by Michel Rolland and in viticulture by Louis Mitjavile since 2000. Laurence Brun has directed this vineyard since 1995 and actively participates in maintaining this property among the best Grands Crus Classés in the appellation.
