Château Ducru Beaucaillou, Saint Julien Grand Cru Classé, 2017
Certainly, Saint-Julien does not have a 1st Classified Growth but it is just like, with the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in perfect ambassador of the appellation. Reproduced in 1941 by the family Borie still owner today, the estate is managed by Bruno Borie, with the advice of oenologist Eric Boissenot. This 2nd Classified Growth takes its name from the "beautiful and big pebbles" which strew the soil of the field. A superb terroir Garonne gravel quaternary, able to drain rainwater and keep the heat of the sun to restore it to the vines at night. This is the ideal land for producing the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon wines (70% of the grape varieties). The 75 hectares of vineyards, located on the edge of the Gironde estuary, benefit from the air-conditioning effect of the river.
The wines of Ducru-Beaucaillou are very appreciated by the amateurs of the whole world for their great classicism. Discreet and elegant, both silky and sappy, they offer a radiant fruit, infinitely fine tannins and a great freshness. Their potential of guard is immense.
